FARMERS’ UNION VIEWS
Forty delegates, representing the Bay of Island electorate, representing branches of the Farmers’ Union, held a political convention at Kaeo on Wednesday, when the question of selecting prospective candidates was discussed at length. Each delegate emphatically stated that they would not vote for the Reform Party,, and several former supporters announced the severance of political ties with that party, states the Kaitaia eoi respondent of the Auckland Star. A largo committee was appointed tb organise various pans of the electorate The conference was voted the best over held in the north. The utmost enthusiasm prevailed, and there was also unanimity among the delegates. STATE OF PARTIES. Labour having gained a seat from the Government, the state of parties in the House of Representatives, which consists of 80 members, is as follows: Reform 53 Labour 14 • Nationalists 0 Liberal 1 Liberal (New Party) ....
