STRONG WEEK-END PROGRAMMES

With the full service of films the management arc now receiving, it is possible to include a liberal allowance of star features in each showing and specially strong programmes are set down for the week-end.

For to-night and a£ Saturday’s matinee, there is the Master Picture presentation of “Thelma,” with Jane Novak in the name part. Marie Corelli’s famous novel has com; to life on the screen Avith Jane Novak in the title role —a character that has endeared itself to millions of readers the world over. Miss NoA-ak has heretofore been identified almost exclusively with outdoor stories, in AA'hieh she has worn plain, rough garments, but in her new vehicle she A\ T ears clothes and gems that cost a fortune, and in Avhich she appears to adA’antage in many big scenes. There arc very strong sup-

ports. For Saturday evening Betty Bronson and Ricardo Cortez are associated in a gay swift comedy, “The Cat’s Pyjamas!” All who love fast frisky comedy, with a sweet fiavour of romance, plenty of laughs, and a dash of sauce will find their wants supplied in this picture. Linked with it is “The Merry Cavalier,” starring Richard Taimadge. Spectacular stunts, breathtaking moments, suspense. gripping drama, all interspersed with delightful bubbling humour and topped with a delightful love story, reveal Talmadge at his best. There is a plentiful backing of shorter comedy, gazettes and topicals.
