FAULTY LAMP CAUSES FIRE.

* VALUABLE CURIOS DESTROYED. (Per Press Association.) TE KUITf, August 13. About 7 o’clock List night the six roomed house of Mr A. G Lavington at Waitete was totally destroyed by fire. The owner was filling a lamp when it caught fire and the house was quickly a mass of flames making it impossible to save anything. The contents were insured for £IOOO and the house for £BOO. Mr and Mrs Lavington were heavy losers as they possessed valuable curtfis collected in all parts of the world, which could not be/'replaced. The contents were worth l £3OOO.
