CORRESPONDENCE.

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—lt is pleasing to note from Mr McAllister’s letter appearing in your issue of 27th inst. that the W.E.A. propose holding a class in English literature during the coming winter. Such a class under a qualified tutor I think would meet with very considerable success. Perhaps it is hardly fair to blame the. Library Committee for acquiescing to the demands of -their readers. I presume they supply the class of books that is asked for. However, on the library shelves are a number of novels of late issue of a pernicious nature. These might well be deleted. Might I suggest, in conclusion, to young students who wish for guidance in their choice of literature, to procure a copy of .John Ruskin’s •‘Sesame and Lilies”—a cheap edition of which is now published in paper covers at a cost of a- few pence. The title under which these papers are headed is somewhat of a misnomer, but the perusal will give pleasure and profit to the reader. Apologising, Mr Editor, for monopolising so much of vour valuable space.—l am, etc.. NEMO. Levin, January 30, 1921.
