Young Woman’s Fate. DROWNED WHILE BATHING. (Per Press Association.) Hawera, January 31. Violet Honeyfield, single, about 26 years, was bathing with a young man named Brooks in. a pool of the Waingongoro River yesterday afternoon, when she. got into difficulties. Brooks made every effort to get her out, without result. A boy named Harris, who had previously gone to the pool to tell several good swimmers were on the gerotis, went to call assistance. Soon sevem Igood swimmers wiere on the scene. The water was very deep. It was three-quarters of an hour before the body was recovered. Efforts at resuscitation were continued for over an hour unsuccessfully. Deceased came from New Plymouth. Drowned at Foxton. The body of Alfred Hutchinson, fiaxmill employee, of P'aiaka-, was found on Friday afternoon floating in the river near the spot where deceased’s olothee were found* on the bank. The body was naked when brought ashore. The body was taken to Foxton by the police.
