Supply of Electric Power.
■CONFERENCE TO BE HELM. I The question oC the supply and distribution of electric energy from the Alangahuo was considered at Saturday's meeting of the Horowhenua County Council,. when a report was submitted by the Council's special committee (Crs Monk, Broadbelt and Harkness) as follows: (I) That the Council authorise -the calling of a conference of local bodies lor tho purpose df considering the advisability or otherwise of forming an electric power distx'ict under the "Kloe- | trie Power Boards Act, 1918." (£) That say two delegates from the following local authorities be invited to attend such conterenco: l<'ox ton, Levin, and Shannon boroughs; Otaki ili'own Board and the Manawatu and Hutt ■ counties. (3) That tte t Public Works Department bo asked to allow one of its officers to attend the proposed conferencc. (4) That the date of -the, proposed conference ho Saturday, April 24, 1920, at 11 a.m.
Tho Chairman (Cr Monk) said the Shannon Dairy Company had written asking what steps.the Council was taking to got power from the Mangahao, oui the Company would require a lot of power. Tho '.Foxton Borough 'Council had ulso written on the matter and the Council's Committee considered tli© calling of, a conference of publiV bodies was tne best tiling in tho cii en instances.
Cr Harkness supported the calling of as electric .power was •ioinir to be a boon to the district. They should not miss the opportunity of getting their application in early es thoy wanted to be among the first to get power from this source.
On tli© motion of the Chairman, the report was adopted, and the Chairman ami Crs Broarlbelt and. Harkness were appointed to represent he Council at the Conference.
