DEATH Ol' LIEUT.-COLONEL RICH ARDSON. Greymoutli. This Day. Lieut.-Colonel Richardson died in camp last night. He was a son of the late Hon. E. Richardson. Later. Liihit-Colonel Richardson was taken ill suddenly yesterday and died during the night from cerebral hemorrhage He had not been in the best heaJtli since the Kowhai camp last year. The camp was to break up to-day, the Canterbury section having left yesterday morning. The body was brought to town this morning and will be taken overland to Christchurch to -morrow. I he news of his death caused a painful shock in camp, the late Lieut-Colonel being an exceeding popular officer. A SERIOUS CHARGE. Christchurch. This Day. Bertram Bunn, a candidate for Riccarton at last election, appeared in Court to-day .charged with an attempt to procure abortion. He was remanded till Friday nest. Bail was allowin his own recognaisance of £200 and a surety of £300. The case was the outcome of evidence given at the inquest into the death of an illegitimate child last Monday. MAIN TRUNK UOADS. Auckland. This Day. The Chaniber of Commerce decided to urge the Government to set up without delay a commission to go into the improvement of the main roads between Auckland and Wellington.
