OTAGO LIVE STOCK MARKET.
Mjsssrs. Royse, Mtjdie, & Miller, of Oamaru, under date Ist February, report as follows: We regret to have to report a very dull market for the season in stock of every description. The depressing news from -the 1 London wool '■ market causes extreme caution as.the part of buyers of sheep, even at reduced rates; and unless more cheerful news from tbat niarket reaoheß us before the Beasou is much further advanced, we fear that operations wiU be-^very limited. ‘ Notwithstanding the short lambing and heavy losses; there arealargeiiumberof Canterbury sheep in the market, and sellers desirous to meet buyers in prices. . Otago bred are a;s4ade flnner. In cattle, there are few transactions, and in very small lots; as thereare so fe win this district holders look for full prices, which the general dulness : of the season prevents buyers giving. . ' ; The. backward state of the weather causes also a gloomy feeling opr : farmers,' especially those who have any considerable breadth of wheat. .Grasses* never were more. plentiful,. consequently wo may look for a;niore full supply of fap stock and at easier rates, than last year.''
