CHARGES REASONABLE
Building Fees in Hastings NO CHANGES PROPOSED Following an investigation of the matter ol building permit fees, tho charges of other towns having been secured fur comparison, Cr. Percy E. Loach, chairman of the By-Laws Committee, had no recommendations to make in his report presented at the Hastings Borough Council meeting last evening. Cr. Loach said that on analysing the charges made in other towns about tho size of Hastings, ho found that on amounts covering the average cottage up to £903, the present fees were 5/- per permit lower than the average, and sligktly higher than Lower Hutt. On work above £9OO they were much on a par with the other towns, but were still higher than Lower Hutt. As the permits per year lor buildings of £9OO or under amount, to under a hundred, the amount the council would gain by raising i.e Ice 5/would be under £25. “Under the circumstances 1 have no recommendation to make in relation to building permit lees.” he concluded.
