Superintendent Reviews Work During May MUCH PLANTING DONE The activities of the Borough Reserves during the past month were reveiwed as follows in the monthly report of the superintendent (Mr. J. G. C. Mackenzie) presented to the Hastings Borough Council last evening.— Cornwall Park: The following work was performed.—(a) the removal of flower beds, levelling and resowing of Rwn between the archway and monkey cages; (b) the addition ot 141 t. to the covered archway; (c) the reforming of several of the flower borders; (cl) the completion of the two new pathways near the monument; and (e) the planting of 246*0 bedding plants and 3,3(10 bulbs for an early summerdisplay. Zoo: Eleven canaries were received from Mr. 11. Giles, Whitehead Hoad and also a number or nesting boxes and covered food trays from Air. J. L. Masterson, Havelock Road.
Town Gardens: The planting of 2500 bedding plants and 2350 bulbs was carried out during the month. Approximately LOGO seedlings were also planted at the cemetery. Windsor Park; the camping grounds fees for the month totalled £3-8/-. The cleaning of the lake and removal by relief labour ot all stumps between the boat shed and No. 1 bridge was now completed. The shone-workers are completing the wall between the boat shed and No. 1 bridge.
