VOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at "*■ a Special Meeting of the Hastings Borough Council held on Thursday, 14th day of May, 1936, the following Resolution was passed and will be submitted for confirmation at an Ordinary Meeting of the Council to be held on THURSDAY, 11th day of June, 1936, at J. 30 p.m. at the Council Chambers, Hastings Street, Hastings. RESOLUTION: WHEREAS by Requisition made under Section 22 of “The Health Act, 1920,” and bearing datu the 20th day of March, 1936, the Board of Health required the Hustings Borough Council to alter its sanitary works by ceasing tu discharge any sewage of the Borough of Hastings into the Ngaruroro River, and to provide within its district the foUowing sanitary works that is to say sewerage works aud works for the disposal of the sewage of the Borough of Hastings at some suitable point in the sea, between the mouths of the Tuki Tuki River and the Ngaruroro River, AND WHEREAS the said Requisition authorises the expenditure on the works referred to therein of a sum not exceeding Fifty Thousand Pounds (£50,000) AND WHEREAS the estimated cost of such works in accordance with the plans and specifications prepared by the Engineer of the Hastings Borough Council and approved by the Board of Health and I’ublie Works Department and the Treasury amounts to £49,607, AND WHEREAS the estimated preliminary expenses in connection with the said works amount to £393, AND WHEREAS the Hastings Borough Council has secured a subsidy of one third of the cost of the labour and materials involved in the carrying out of such works, or the sum of £16,000, whichever is the smaller, AND WHEREAS it is necessary that a further sum of Thirty-four Thousand Pounds (£34,000) be raised in order to comply with the Requisition of the Board of Health hereinbefore referred to NOW THEREFORE, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in it in that behalf by the “Local Bodies Loans Act, 1926,” “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933,” “The Health Act, 1920,” and all other powers and authorities if any, it enabling, the Hastings Borough Council' hereby resolves by way of Special Order as follows:— (1) That the Council proceed to raise a special loan of Thirty-four Thousand pounds (£34,000) aud that such special loan bo called “Sewage Extension Loan, 1936.” (2) That such special loan bo raised for the purpose of carrying out the works referred to in the Requisition of the Board of Health, bearing date the 20th day of March, 1936, as follows:-r “To provide within its district the following snnitary works that is to say sewerage works and works for the disposal of the sewage of the Borough of Hastings at some suitable point in the sen between the Tuki Tuki River nnd the Ngaruroro River.” (3) That the term of such special loan be for a period of 25 years bearing interest nt the rate of three pounds ten shillings per centum per annum. (4) That such special loan together with interest thereon, be repaid by * fifty equal half yearly instalments of £1,025 18/3. (5) That the security for the payment of the instalments referred to in Clause 4 hereof, be an annualrecurring special rate of forty-two one hundredths (.42) of a penny in the pound, upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property of the Borough of Hastings comprising the whole of the Borough of Hastings, and such special rate bo permanently appropriated and pledged for that purpose. (6) That tho payment of the equal half-yearly instalments referred to in Clause 4 hereof, bo secured by the issue by the Council of fifty debentures of £1,025 18/3 each, payable in Wellington. (7) That no instalment or interest bo paid out of loan moneys. (8) That this resolution be duly advertised in accordance with the provisions of Section 62 of “Tho Municipal Corporations Act, 1933” and submitted for confirmation at a meeting of the Council to bo held on THURSDAY, the eleventh day of June, 1936.
