AUCKLAND RACES
Final Day To-morrow Never in*the history of the Auckland Racing Club have better weather conditions favoured the winter meeting the track being iu spring-like order.’ Hence we have the very fast tunes recorded and the breaking of many long-standing records in that respect. Old-timers were astounded to learn that at an Ellerslie winter meeting six furlongs had been run in 1.12, to say nothing of “hacks” carrying over list leaving a mile behind in’l.4o. The fine going has also been responsible for form working out much more closely than on a heavy track, as a glance through the first two days’ results will reveal. On these results the summingup of to-morrow’s events may be based, after, of course, taking into consideration the readjustments of weights by the handicapper. Tho.following may carry most monetary support in their respective events:—
Tamaki Steeplechase. —Allegretto, Tangled, Windsor Lad. Orakei Hurdles. —Spotting Song, Benighted, Contact.
York Handicap.—Pakanui, Grateful, Scotland.
Winter Steeplechase.—Forest Glow, Umtali, Gascille. Campbell Hurdles. —Jolly Beggar, The Smuggler, Vai Watch. Visitors’ Handicap.—Prince Acre, Enge, Namakia. Fitzroy Handicap. — Shy, Dark Shadow, Huskie. Should this last event be run in two divisions, then the favourites may be:—First division: Ghy and Dark •Shadow. Second division; Huskie and Mustang.
