SHIP JOSEPH CONRAD

No News Since May 22

(Received 5, 10.30 a.tn.) SYDNEY, June 5.

A fortnight has elapsed since the full-rigged ship Joseph. Conrad Was sighted and, in view of the recent gales which swept the North Tasman, some anxiety is felt for the vessel’s safety. Passengers who arrived at Sydney from Lord Howe Island) which was the last port of call of the ship, stated that it had been rumoured that tho Joseph Conrad had foundered and all hands had perished. Tho origin of the rumour, however, could not be determined The vessel was lust sighted on May 22 ten miles east of Cape Palliser.
