CLASH IN SPAIN

Sequel to Peasants’ Seizure of Property MANY CASUALTIES (Received 1, 9.30 a.m.) MADRID, Muy 30. Tn a battle between Givi] Guards and Reds at Yeste, in the Albacete province, 22 peasants and one Civil Guard were killed and 50 combatants wounded. Two guards are expected to die. The clash was due to peasants’ seizure of the property of a landowner, Edmunds Alfare, ex-member of the Cortes. They uprooted GO pine trees and began to cultivate the land The police arrested 14 men and were escorting them to the provincial capital when fellow villagers, armed with firearms and farming implements, attempted to rescue them. The disturbance has not yet been quelled. Storm guards and a lied Cross ambulance have been despateacd to Yeste.
