SUBSCRIPTION LIST
Abyssinian Red Cross Fund A subscription list has been opened at the office of H.B. Newspapers LU. to assist the Abyssinian*. Funds are needed at onee. It is hoped to join up with a similar appeal by Dr. Rolls in Auckland. Dr. Rolls was for six months working with the Red Cross in Abyssinia, so will be able to give firsthand advice as to the most suitable outfit. The first subscription to come in is from a member of a much-respected Hawke’s Bay family, who is blind. This lady mentioned that in spite of a sheltered lite she has a personal understanding of this worst of afflictions. To have such affliction added to the gasping lungs fighting for breath is more than the most hardy should be asked to bear. Women and little children have had to bear it. “We will do what we can and as soon as we can,” she says, “to let these suffering ones know that there is pity in tbe world still, in spite of the fury and hate let loose among them.” Donations received are as under:— £ * d Miss Lydia Williams 5 0 0 G.
