Fire Station Thefts 1' rom Our Own Correspondent WAIPAWA, May 5. A number of petty thefts have recently been committed at the Waipawu rire Brigade Station—petty in so lai as the material is concerned, but serious in that they might hamper the bri gade very seriously in case of a nigh I call. Several torches have been stolen, and petrol has even been syphoned from the engine tank. The matter has been placed in the hands of the police. Mr H. C. Armstrong, teller at the local branch of the Bank of New Zealand, is at present on holiday leave, and Mr A. Litchfield, of the Napiei branch, is acting as relieving officer. Mi's L. I’ratley, of Waipawa, has returned from a holiday visit to Auckland.
