Saturday Rugby Gaines From Our Own Correspondent. WAIPUKURAU, May 5. The fixtures and referees of tho Central Hawke’s Bay Rugby Sub-Union for Saturday, May 9, are as follows: — Senior: Old Boys v. Otane, at Central Park, No. 1 ground, at 2.45, Mr R. W. Whitworth; Waipawa v. Te Aute, at Waipawa at 2.45, Mr R. Voyce; Tikokino v. Waipukurau, at Tikokino at 2.45, Mr D. Fredrickson; Takapau v. Ongaonga, at Tukapau, at 2.45, Mr 0. Williamson. Juniors: To Auto v. Old Boys, at Central Park at 2.45, No. 2 ground, Mr A. Parker; Waipukurau v. Takapau B at Central Park at 2.45, No. 3 ground, Mr A. Smales; Takapau A v. Waipawa, at Waipawa, at 2.45, Mr T. Gibson. HATUMA DEBATING. There was a good attendance at the fortnightly meeting of the Hatuma Debating Society held in the Hatuma hall on Thursday evening. The meeting took the form of a prepared speech evening, and altogether five speeches were delivered. Mr R. Grant presided. Mr C. C Bradshaw gave a very humorous speech on “Zoos,” which caused considerable amusement among the audience. Miss E. Allan spoke on tho “Women’s Institute,” Miss I. Thomsen on “The Pyramids.” Mr R. Edgecombe on “The Restoration of the Colonies to Germany.” and Mr G. Edgecombe gave an interesting address on unemployment. Ou Monday, May 11, a team from the Hatuma Club will visit the Ongaonga Club when the question: “That the creation of an International Police Force would be in the best interests of World Peace” will be debated. The Hatuma team consists of Messrs R. Edgecombe, A. Ferguson, and Reg. Thomsen. For tho usual debate in the Hatuma Hall on Muy 14 the subject will be “That environment has a greater influence on our lives than heredity.” The speakers will be: Affirmative, Miss M. Patterson and Mr Syd. Thomsen; negative, Miss J. Allan and Mr C. Thomsen, A largo attendance is expected. PERSONAL. Mr Alex Shand and his daughter, Jessie and Miss Margaret Shand, who 1 have been on an extended tour of the South Island, have returned to Hatuma.
