OLD SETTLERS
Annual Social and Dance The, Hatuma Hall was thronged on Wednesday evening, the occasion being the ajnnual old settlers’ social and dance. Visitors had come from far and near to make the function an assured success, and among them were parties from Dannevirke, Takapau, and Waipukurau. Mr F. Culling announced the items and later acted as M.C. The social for the first part of the evening was of a very high order, and all contributors kindly responded to encores. Those contributing items were as follow:—lnstrumental trio, Mr J. Windle and party; song, Mr E. T. 1 Haldane; dance, Miss C. Chisholm; 1 song, Mrs Coats; ’cello solo, Mr Cotterill; song, Mr Collin; dance, Miss | McKenzie; song, Mrs Soinervill (Taka- I pan); dance Miss Chisholm; song Mr ' E. T. Haldane. 1 he energetic committee responsible for the evening’s entertainment were Misses M. Simmons, J. Wilson, E Grant, E. Bayliss, E. Allan, and Messrs F. Culling (chairman), A. Wilsorr H. Allan (secretary).’ N. Wright and H. Bayliss. After a delicious supper, which was supplied by the ladies, dancing was carried on till the small hours of the morning.
