Richard Dix achieves one of the finest characterisations of his career as the redoubtable war ace in “Ace of Aces”, RKO-Radio Picture which unfolds its powerful drama, grim humour '■ and break-taking air thrills for the en- | tertainment ot the Napier State Theatre’s audience to night. Hie story of “Aco ol Aces” by John Monk Saunders, who authored ■Wings” and 'The Dawn Patrol,” concerns Rex Thorne. A gupping climax arises whin Thorne returns to the front after injury. Wounded in combat, he comes to realise at what prji his glory lias been won. Shaken and remorseful, he requests duty relict, which is refused. He soars aloft, and blindly flies into an enemy squadron Richard Dix excels in his role. It offers an outlet for the expression ol his dramatic power and versatility. The star receives splendid support from Elizabeth Allan, who is excellent in a part entirely different from the stereotyped feminine lead. “This Man Is Mine” can be recommended as one of the best and most scintillating satirical comedies of the season, a lively and surprising story from beginning to end. and one that presents three great
screen favourites in the best roles of their careers: Irene Dunne, the star, who drops her cameolike, serene veneer and becomes a torrid, vivid woman; Ralph Bellamy who enacts the role of what probably is the world's dumbest husband, and I 'instance Cummings, who portray* an expert hutbandstealer
