TRAVEL BY AEROPLANE
Doctor’s Trip to Auckland H.B. PILOT KEPT BUSY Travelling by the Hawke’s Bay Aero Club’s Dcsouttcr monoplane, with Flight-Lieutenant A. G. Gerrand as pilot, Dr D. A. Bathgate and Mrs Bathgate made the trip from Hastings to Mangere Aerodrome, Auckland, in two hours yesterday. The machine left Ibe Hastings Aerodrome at noon, and by 2 o’clock the passengers were at Mangere. A car was waiting to take them into the city, where Dr Bathgate is to undergo special medical treatment after a prolonged illness which has kepf him confined to his bed.
The doctor has made several trips by. aeroplane to attend patients, and is himself a keen member of the Hawke’s Bay Aero Club. On Sunday Flight-Lieutenant Gerrand made a flight to Nelson with Mr A. Van Asch and Mrs Van Asch, of Craggy Range, and returned yesterday to make the flight to Auckland with Dr and Airs Bathgate.
To-day ho will fly to Russell with Mr Ralph Holden as a passenger.
