Where not mentioned the plough track was-used. » ♦ • Blue Boy (J. Webbey) ran seven furlongs comfortably in 1.33}, being picked up by Winter Sport (R. Foote) over the last six. « « « Padishah (M. Gilmore) was only just in front of Heliotype (J. Green) at the end of five furlongs in 65Jsecs. The latter goes ever so much better on the grass, which may account for this defeat. a » o Highgrader (M. Gilmore) was restricted to a working gallop of threequarters of a mile. • • • Marae Quex (M. Gilmore), getting the better of the start by about three lengths, was the same distance ahead of Marsong (J. Leach) at the end of four furlongs on the grass in 49 4-ssecs.
Seattle (W. Horne) and Pikiao (G. Gomme), on the same track, ran four furlongs in 53secs. for the former to be going very comfortably. • » -
Tycoon (P. Atkins) doing it nicely all the way, did his once round in 1.43 J.
Speed was given pace work on the sand. He will he ridden on Saturday by B. H. Morris. K * * Royal Record (A. Weaver) was given an easy task to go with Lady Wessex (J. Webbey) and Dusky Crown (J. Green) over five furlongs in 66}secs.
* « # Kahunoke (R. Marsh), Cotsfield (G. Goinm), and Ex Dono (J. Leach) did a solid working gallop Of a round in 1.44 J, the former going particularly well.
• » • Arauline (W. Horne) and Slippery (J. Webbey), against the bit, ran five furlongs in 65Jsecs.
Conference (G. Gomm) on the grass, ran six furlongs in 1.18. The Autumnus gelding appeared slightly short in front.
Swift and Sure (J. Leach) and Bold Bill (R. Marsh) took 67secs. to do their five furlongs.
Cassadora and Father’s Choice ran three furlongs in 39secs. Wee Boy (R. Smith) negotiated three fences safely, being given a lend by the 'chaser, Bon Aryan, who has joined up with J. M. Cameron’s team.
Royal Bengal (R. Marsh), De Trop (J. Leach), and Cawbeen (P. Atkins), all doing it comfortably, ran half a mile in oOJsecs.
MARTON AUTUMN MEETING. NOMINATIONS DUE FRIDAY. The Marton Jockey Club has displayed considerable enterprise in issuing a very attractive programme for its autumn meeting, to be held on Saturday, April 21. This meeting wiil serve to launch the 1934 steeplechase season, anil will give owners of hurdlers and 'chasers who are anticipating a visit to the Egmont-Wanganui and Great Northern meetings an op portunity for a race before taking on the more important engagements. The secretary, Mr- Arthur Way, P.O. Box 3, Marton, will take nominations up till 9 p,m, on Friday (to-morrow), April 6.
