H.B. RUGBY LEAGUE
THREE RECORDS CLAIMED. LAST YEAR’S TROPHY HOLDERS. The claim that three New Zealand records were established during last season in Napier is made by the Hawke’s Bay Rugby League in its annual report presented at the annual meeting last evening. The records claimed arc as follow: —(1) “Moug’’ Smith secured 205 points for one season in games under the jurisdiction of the League. (2) Clive Seniors secured 441 points for with only 98 against. (3) The H.B. Rugby League had a registration of 387 players for a first season. The report also states that the League were fortunate as regards trophies. The whole of the trophies of the old League were stored and after 10 years restored to the Hawke’s Bay body. During the season -additional trophies were received and the League’s appreciation has been recorded to Miss May Proctor, Mr. Walmsley and Mr Grant.
The following are the holders of the trophies as a result of last,, season’s games: —Vigor Brown Shield (Senior Grade Championship), Clive; W. W. Brooks Challenge Cup (Knock-out Competition), Clive; W. Lane Cup (Junior Grade Competition'), Clive; Proctor Cup (Junior Knock-out Competition). Taradale; Harvey Memorial Cup (Third Grade Competition), Taradale; Brusey Memorial Cup (Third Grade Knock-out Competition). Taradale; Richmond Cun (Fourth Grade Competition), Taradale; Walmsley Shield (Pakeha v. Maoris representative match), Maoris; Grant I.X.L. Cup (representatives of all Sub-Leagues in Hawke’s Bay), at present held by Wairoa; Murphy Cup (Town v. Country), Country.
