WILSON—TURNER Only immediate relatives of the bride and groom were present at “Glenore,” Puketitiri, Hawke’s Bay, the residence of the bride’s parents, on Easter Saturday, when the marriage took place of Janet Joy Turner, daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Turner, and Gilbert Wilson, son of Mrs and the late Mr J. E. Wilson. The Rev. C. Hyde, of Puketapu, officiated, the bride being given away by her father. She was married in her going-away ensemble of Donegal tweed with hat, shoes and gloves to tone. She carried a bouquet of roses and maiden, hair fern. Miss June Turner, attired in a tailored tweed frock and smart hat, acted as bridesmaid to her sister. She carried a bouquet of sweet peas and fern. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr Lewis Wilson. A reception was held in the drawing room, Mr and Mrs Turner receiving. The latter wore a smart frock of navy blue and white georgette with navy hat and carried a bouquet of hydrangea and autumn leaves. The room was tastefully decorated with flowers in white and autumn tonings. The wedding repast was served in the dining-room and the usual toasts were honoured. Later, Mr and Mrs Wilson left by car for the south Relatives present were: Mrs Bolton (Pahiatua), grandmother of the bride, who wore a black crepe de chine ensemble and carried a bouquet of asters and fern. Wilson and B Beetham. philip—McDonald On Thursday march 29, a quiet ceremony took place at St. John’s Church, Dannevirke when Jean Doris Golding, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. McDonald, of Oringi, was married to Stew, art Raymond Lane, younger son of the late Mr Alex. Philip and the late Mrs Siffleet, of Dannevirke. The Rev. G. B. Stephenson officiated, and Mrs McKinnon, the church organist, supplied the wedding march and incidental music. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked exceedingly nice in a silk crepe frock of delphinium blue, relieved with cream and ha' to match, a bouquet of creamy roses, i.ahlias and maidenhair fern completing her toilette In attendance was the bride’s sister, Miss Noeline McDonald, tastefully frocked in rose figured crepe de ehene with fawn hat. Her bouquet was of pink roses, sweet peas and maidenhair fern. Mr Stanley Philip, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. After the ceremony Mr and Mrs McDonald entertained the wedding party at their residence at Oringi, the latter wearing a black crepe de chene ensemble with coloured vest, and a black hat.. She carried a posy of rod roses and sweet peas. Later Mr and Mrs Philip left fo r a wedding trip to Napier, the bride travelling in a brown costume with brown coat, hat and shoes. On Thursday afternoon the staff of the Dannevirke “Evening News” assembled and on their behalf, Mr W. J. Woods, the manager, presented Mr W. Philip, a member of the office staff, with appropriate presents, and wished him and his bride success for the future.
