“It is very seldom we have strikes or lock-outs at our port,” said Mr W. Morrison, chairman of the Wanganui Harbour Board, at a meeting of the Farmers' Union, when such occurrences were advanced as strong objection to the centralisation of shipping at the larger ports. He referred to recent incidents at Wellington as a. ease in point, and said that if export shipping were confined to a few large ports a serious menace would be continually present. The recent trouble at Wellington had no reflection on the Wanganui wharves.
