GOLF AT AUCKLAND

Championship Semi-Finals (By Telegraph-Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 3. The semi-finals of the Auckland provincial golf championship were played to-day at Titirangi and resulted as follow:—!'. H. Horton (Masterton) beat W. K. Dobson (N.8.W.), 4 and 3; W. 8. Ralph (Auckland) beat I. Maeewan (Auckland), 2 arid 1. The final will be played this afternoon. Getting an early advantage of three up, Horton—who will be representing New Zealand for the fifth time when the Kirk-Windeyer Cup contest starts on Friday—at no time looked like losing. He went out in 38 and his opponent took a stroke more. Hobson certainly squared the game at the turn, only to see Horton play six holes practically without blemish and win the match at the 15th. Ralph and Macewan, who are clubmates, were well matched. Ralph completed the opening half in 38 and was up, but made numerous mistakes and saw his lead reduced to one at the 15th. Both played indifferently after the !®th. Ralph eventually won two up and one to play. Neither team for the Cup contest has been announced but it is expected that Horton, Wright, Silk and Hornabrook will represent New Zealand.
