The Commission will resume its sitting on Tuesday, April 10, 1934, at 11 a.m., at the Native Affairs Com mittee Boom, Parliament Buildings, Wellington, to inquire into the administration of the Departments of Government concerned with the adBiinistration of Native Affairs in New Zealand and. in particular, (1) into the schemes now in operation for the development of the lands of the Maori people, for assisting them in farming and all matters conBected therewith, including (a) the probability of their achieving the results intended or of their being justified by the benefits they confer on the Maori people, and (b) the sources from which they are financed and the expenditure and control of and accounting for moneys, stores, and credits in connection therewith; (2) the funds which are available to the Maori people, the purposes for which they may be applied or should be applicable, and whether they might be used more effectively. The Commission has decided to sit in public to hear evidence and argument concerning the matters under inquiry, but the Commission retains its right to take any evidence or make any Inquiries in private, whenever the Commission thinks it necessary so to do. The Commission invites evidence from those who have knowledge concerning the matters under inquiry or any of them. Any person may apply personally to the Commission to be called as a witness before the Commission, but it is desirable that a written communication stating clearly the name and address of the writer and Indicating the nature of the evidence Ute writer desires to tender should ‘be addressed to the Secretary, Commission on Native Affairs, Wellington.
