Reform of Social System REGULATION OF BANKING By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright SYDNEY, March 31. What is generally regarded as a statement of policy on behalf of the State Labour Party for the next election was delivered by Mr. J. T. Lang at Labour’s Easter conference now in session.
Mr. Lang commented on recent abor tive attempts to unite the warring Federal and State Labour units, and went on to say: “We cannot allow the virile Labour movement to be throttled by old men with vested interests, and the insistent cry of the young Australian to be allowed to work and live must be answered. The financial sye tern must be taken out of the hands of old men.
“The people, particularly the rising generation, will find what they arc seeking.in our system of social contro 1 of credit facilities, in the regulation of banking, in the stabilisation of markets, in the removal of excessive interest burdens, in nationalisation of capital indebtedness, in the expansion of commodity purchasing power and a reduced working week. “In planning for national economy, eliminating waste and private exploit:’ tion, we must look to new methods and new economic truths built on the bitter experience of the depression.’’
The State Labour eouferenee decide'! to readmit all members expelled in connection with the Bulli election except Mr. A. O. Willis and Mr. C. A. Morgan, who had joined the Federal Labour Party.
