CISBORNE CELTIC WIN FINAL. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 31. lhe annual North Island Rugby ’ tourney for the Spillane Cup between i Marist teams commenced here to-day under summer weather conditions. Six teams competed, as follow: Gisborne, Napier, Wanganui, Wellington, Hamilton and Auckland. Two games were played this morning, and two this afternoon. Results:—
Gisborne (39) beat Hamilton (nil). Tries for the former were scored by Kaua (2), C. McKinley (2), Airey, W. McKinley, B. Hale, Hargreaves and L. McKinley. Milligan converted four and . Carrington and C. McKinley one each. Napier (13) defeated Wellington (6). i Tries for Napier were scored by IreI land. Brown and O’Brien, and Hannan dropped a goal. McGreevy and O'Shea ' scored tries for Wellington. , In a fast and interesting game Auck- ! land (26) defeated Wanganui (9). Tries I for Auckland were scored by Toye (2), Little and Fleming 2|). Fleming converted four tries and Matthews kicked . a penalty. Gisborne (27) defeated Napier (nil), i Tries for the winners wore scored by | McKinley (3), McAneny, Hale and CarI rington. Carrington converted two and Milligan converted one and also kicked j a penalty. x The final, between Auckland and Gis I borne will be played on Monday. I Monday. The final of the Spillane Cup was keenly contested, Gisborne !
