MAKING OF RULERS. POSSIBILITIES IN MOUSETRAPS. While expressing the view that opportunities for the placing of unemployed boys were few in the cities, Mr E. A. Ansell, M.P., stated at a conference at the Auckland Town Hall on Wednesday that it should be possible to create work for some of these youths by the establishment of new industries.

One example was rulers used by school children. It had been shown that children attending New Zealand schools used 8000 rulers a week. It had been suggested that au article equal in quality and similar in price to the imported ruler could be made in New Zealand, and it was proposed to investigate the proposal as offering a possible avenue of employment for youths.
