KIRK-WINDEYER CUP. N.S.W. BEATS SYDNEY. Sydney, June 14. Conditions were ideal for the first of the Kirk-Windeyer Cup matches at the Rose Bay links to-day. New South Wales proved too strong for Queensland. The latter were beaten by six rubbers to nil. New South Wales thus qualifying for the final against New Zealand on Wednesday and Thursday. Results:— R. H. Bettington and R. J. Withyenmbe (New South Wales) beat T. Trude and T. Munro (Queensland) three up. J. Ferrier and G. Thompson (New South Wales) beat R. H. Cumming and G Whatmore (Queensland), four up. Ferrier beat Cumming, one up. Bettington beat Munro, seven up. Withycombe beat Trude, four up. Thompson beat. Whatmore, nine up.

The games were all played out. An outstanding incident was Ferrier’s recovery against Cumming. Ferrier was much steadier in the second nine holes ano after a great struggle managed to win on the last green. Subject to the likelihood of an alteration in the New Zealand team, the draw for the foursomes over 36 holes to-morrow is: Ferrier and Thompson versus Hornabrook and Silk; Bettlnglon and Withycombe vessrs Black and Brindsden.
