WAIPAWA

(Own Correspondent.) At the next meeting of the Waipawa County Council the chairman (Mr L. Glenny) will move that the following rates be struck for the current year (last year’s rate is given in parentheses): —Waipawa riding, 1 l-Bth (l-8th); Onga riding, l-Bth (l-4th); Clinton riding, lid (lid); Takapau riding, 1 l-Bth (l-4th). There was a good average attendance at the fortnightly korero of the Savage Club, items being contributed by the following:—Songs, Savages Woods and McGlone; stories, recitations and talks, Savages Strang, Hill, Martin, Barker; community sing, Savage Adeane; topical duet, Savages Harker and Adeane; sketch, Savages Rawlings, F. Jull, Dwight, and Christensen. Several selections were pleasantly rendered by the orchestra. During an interval in the programme the Chief Rangatira (Savage Barker) presented Savage R. Rust with a gold tiki in recognition of his services as pianist over a number of years.
