A GIFT PARTY

FOR A BRIDE. Miss Nita Horrnom was the guest of honour at a most delightful party given to her on Tuesday evening by Mrs Sperlam in honour of her approaching marriage to Mr J. Smith. It was a most novel party, everyone arriving in fancy dress, many of tho guests creating laughter by their absurd attire. OM-fashioned games proved very entertaining, such as musical chairs, charades, and wellorganised choruses. Dancing was continued later. Everyone had brought a pretty piece of china for tho bride-to-be, there being some beautiful cups and saucers, bowls, jugs, and dainty cruets, plates, and vases in the large basket of parcels, which were opened after supper.

A delicious supper was set amid decorations of Iceland poppies, these being country dainties such as turkey, chicken in aspic, lobster mayonnaise, and many other savouries. Tho 30 guests joined in pinging “For They Are Jolly Good Fellows” after the many speeches, testifying to the great popularity of this young couple. Mrs Sperlam wore a Victorian model frock of black lace applique in sprays of rose chiffon. Miss Horrnom wore a closely moulded long frock of white satin cut to a deep V at the back of the neck, and finished at the waist with cerise roses and bustle draperies.
