WEIGHTY BOAR
An English breeder reports that a Middle White boar, Cooling Baron 2nd, sold by him for export to Hungary-, weighed 2301 b at 196 days. At eight weeks the pig weighed 301 b, ten weeks 431 b, twelve weeks 531 b, and at twentyseven weeks 2221 b.
The Cooling herd records for 1931 show that from 42 litters 435 pigs were born (232 boars and 203 gilts) and 328 reared (169 boars and 159 gilts)— averages of 10.3 born and 7.6 reared. The average weight of pigs nt 56 days was 25.81 b. It is stated that nearly half the litters were from gilts.
