HAWKE’S BAY GAMES MEN AND LADIES AT PLAYMATCHES AT HASTINGS. The men’s and ladies' competitions under the auspices of the Hawke’s Bay Hockey Association were continued in Hastings, Napier and Taradale on Saturday, five matches being played at Cornwall Park, Hastings, where there was a big crowd in attendance. The surprise of the afternoon was the heavy defeat of Hastings ladies by Y.M.P., who completely overran their opponents. Results of the games played are as follows:— MEN’S GAMES. Old Boys defeated Y.M.P. (B) by one goal to nil, Hislop scoring the onl'y point. Hower, Old Boys’ goal, was in great form. —Messrs Rowlands and bear were referees. Y.M.P. (A) defeated Kahuranaki 2 —o. Te Where, who scored both goals, and Ataria played good games for the winners and Hawea, E. Timu and Price were the best of the losers. —Messrs Surgeonor and Thompson refereed. Matariki journeyed to Taradale and defeated the home side by four goals to one. Collier netted the ball twice and P. Edward and Puriri scored ono goal each. For Taradale Blair scored the solitary goal.—Messrs Ford and Burness were referees. A junior match saw High School play a team of “All-comers,’’ each side scoring two goals.—Mr W. Lewis was referee. LADIES’ MATCHES. Y.M.P. defeated Hastings (A) by sis goals to ml. A. Hape did the “hat trick.” M. Harrison, M. Mohi and W. Carroll all found the net once.—Messrs Brown and Fear refereed. Whakatu defeated Wannarama by three goals to nil, P. Cunningham scoring twice and K. McKerchar once —Messrs West and Nikera refereed. Kahuranaki defeated Awapuni by three goals to nil, R. Timu, M. Russel] and T.
