Results:— Singles.—Mrs Wills-Moody boat Miss Round. 6—2, 6—3; Mrs Whittingstall beat Miss Helen Jacobs 6—4, 2—6, 6—l; Mrs King beat Mrs Harper, 3—6, 6—3, 6—l. In the Anglo-American tennis series Austin beat Mangin, 6 —l, 6—3,-9 —7; Wend beat Austin, 6 —3, 3—6. 6 —l,
6 —4; Wood beat Oliff, 6 —l, 6 —3, B—lo, 6—3. Austin’s defeat emphasised the great superiority of the Americans respecting their service. Wood was always able to place an unanswerable delivery when he urgently needed a point. He was particularly deadly in overhead smashing, leaving Austin standing.
