CARPENTER DROWNED. MATE’S HEROIC RESCUE EFFORTS Greymouth, Dec. 7. At the inquest held at Blackball into the circumstances surrounding the death of Lancelot Craig, aged 30 a e» r ’ penter and a native of Invercargill, the verdict was of accidental death through slipping into the Arnold river on Saturday afternoon last, while working on a temporary bridge in connection with the dam construction of the hydro works contract of the Grey Power Board. Craig struck his head on a jagged rock, fracturing his skull. A rider was added commending the heroic action of a fellow worker, Anthony Moore, who repeatedly plunged into the stream endeavouring to save his mate.
