MISS ENGLAND III.
SIR C. WAKEFIELD’S PLANS GREATER SAFETY FOR PILOT. SANGUINE OF HOLDING RECORD. (Received 8, 2.20 p.m.) London, Dec. 7. “I intend to build Miss England 111. with such modifications as will give the pilot greater control and safety,” Sir C. Wakefield announced at the Authors’ Club dinner, adding that ho was sanguine that she could hold the record against any challenger. He m, ...ed the surprising fact that when going at high speed Miss England 11. had a draught of only five inches, as near an aeroplane as could be. It could be imagined that with the rudder having only live inches of grip, what tho risks of porpoising in ruffled water would be. If such a thing were to happen, the impact on alighting would bo equivalent to a motor car hitting a brick wall.
