PARKVALE

SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING. FINAL FOB THIS YEAR. The final meeting of the Parkvale School Committee for 1931 was held last night, Mr A. V. Stamp presiding over a full attendance. Thc headmaster, Mr G. H. Lord, reported the roll number at 470 with an average attendance of 95 per cent. He expressed the thanks of himself and the staff to the committee for their splendid assistance and co-operation during the year. It was reported that the new dressing sheds at tho baths had now been completed, and there was a discussion as to whether the baths should be opened to the public or not. It was finally decided to allow old pupils the use of tho baths on two nights per week, under the supervision of the headmaster. It was agreed that Parents’ Day should be held on December 17. The secretary reported that all arrangements were now complete for tho social to be held to-night, at which four teachers are to be farcwelled, and also for the school boxing tournament, to bo held on Friday night next. Results of tho various competitions recently conducted are as follow: — Watch, Mr R. Barchain; flower and sugar Mr H. Atkinson; blankets, Mrs C. V. Barclay; coal, G. Shakespeare; ham, Mrs Thomson; lamb, Mrs T. Dawe.
