NEWS AND NOTES. (Special Representative.) This year the honour of being dux of the Waipukurau Friary School falls to Master James W. Jamieson, stated Mr Rowe, headmaster at last night’s meeting of the Waipukurau District High School Committee. At last night’s meeting of the Waipukurau District High School Committee, Mr H. B. Smart, the secretary, reported that £BO5 10/3 had been paid in wages to date to the relief workers who are employed at the back of the secondary school levelling ground. Owing to the illness of Mr L. Cutfortli, of the staff of the second school, Miss Westerfield is relieving in his place. The monthly meeting of the Waipukurau District High School Committee was held in the primary school last evening. Mr F. Logan presided over Messrs H. M. Keir, E. H. Leigh, T. G. Thompson, W. W. Jamieson and H. B. Smart (seereteary). The teaching staff are to be thanked for the efficient way in which they have curried out the work in the classes during the year, and the high standard of results obtained. The headmaster, Mr A. C. Rowe, reported that the primary roll for November was as follows:—Boys 228, girls 189; total, 417; average attendance: Boys 230.3, girls 176.5; total, 406.8. Accounts amounting to £l5 16/4 (genereal account), and £2 14/11 (special account) were passed for payment. It was decided to put a tap in the primary grounds, so as to enable the rockery to be watered during the summer. The committee decided that the next meeting will be held on February Bth, 1932.
