The new office premises in Browning street for the Hawke’s Bay Education Board have now been completed and the staff moved into their new quarters on Saturday. Although the old twostoreyed building on the same site suffeied very severe damage as a result of the earthquake, yet fortunately the ground floor was not irreparably damaged, with the result that the board’s contractors, under the supervision of Mr. C. J. Boland, tho board’s architect, have been able to use much of that portion in rebuilding. The cost of the building, which is now onestoreyed, was £2OOO.
