SWIMMING

THE HERETAUNGA CLUB. WEEKLY MEETING. Mr R. Little presided over the Heretaunga Club’s weekly meeting last evening. final arangements were made for the Rainbow Shield carnival to be held in the Maddison Baths on Friday next. To those not familiar with this carnival, it might be mentioned that the shield is for the club gaining the most points over a series of three carnivals. There are eventes for all grades, the points counting first five, second three, third 2- The admission to the carnival is: Adults 1/s, children 6d. The novelty events decided upon were: biscut and whistle race and pillow fight. Any swimmer can enter for the novelties on paying the admission charges, this fee to be returned to the swimmer after the event. At the conclusion of the programme a water polo match will be played between representeative teams of the Havelock and Heretaunga clubs. Arrangements were completed for the learn to swim week. Mr Poppelwell reported that all senior swimmers and many old swimimlrs had expressed their willingness to assist in this effort. It would be pointed out that no spectators other than parents with children will be allowed in the baths. Polo players are reminded of tho polo practice to be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7 o’clock. MAHORA CLUB. . COMMITTEE MEETING. A committee meeting of the above club was held last evening. Present: Messrs. W. Horne (chair), A. Crawford, F. Allen, F. D. Hardy, L. J. McDuff, F. Harper, J. Arrell, C. Lassen, M. Diamond. An apology for absence was received from Mr. E. Coyle. It was decided to fail in line with the other clubs, and hold learn-to-swim week as from the 14th inst. Owing to transfer, Mr. A. M. Diamond resigned the position of secretary. Tho resignation was received with regret; an hororarium of £2 2/- was granted Mr. Diamond. Mr. L. J. McDuff was unanimously appointed secrete fill 'he vacancy. The following swimmers will repre' sent Mahora at Heretaunga Baths on Friday, December 11, for tho Rainbow Shield:— Junior Girls: A. Atkins, M. Fannin, K. Fannin. Junior boys: B. Coles, B. Morley, P. Tritt. Intermediate girls: Misses T. Morrin, J. White, M. Barnes. Intermediate boys: G. Coles, D. Watkins, A. Morley. Men’s open: A. Humphries, F. Round, G. Craike. Ladies’ open: Misses F. Horne, 0. Atkins, H. Fendall. Junior diving: D. Watkins, C. Kirkley, A. Morley. Teams’ race: Mahora No. 1, F. Round, A. Humphries, G. Craike, G. Beach; Mahora No. 2, D. Watkins, G. • Coles, A. Morley, Rogers.
