LONDON PRICES BETTER. MORE INQUIRY FOR CHEESE. There was an improvement in the London butter market last week, due, in part, to a break in arrivals. The market closed firm on Friday. The Empire Marketing Board’s estimate of the stocks of all butters at November 28, was 481,410 boxes, as against 320.380 boxes a year ago. The Dairy Board’s London office reports Friday’s closing quotations as follows, those for the previous week being shown in parentheses:— BUTTER. New Zealand, salted, 107/-110/-(104/-108/-; December 5, 1930,, 102/106/-); unsalted, 116/-120/- to 122/-(114/-118/-; December 5, 1930, 110/116/-); 107/-110/- equals approximately lid per lb. f.0.b.; first whey, 102/(98/-); second whey, 100/- (96/-). Australian, salted, 105/-108/- (102/105/-); unsalted, 108/-112/- (106/110/-). Argentine, unsalted, 94/-100/- (96/98/-). Danish, 128/- f.0.b.; 134/-136/- spot (121/-128/-130/-). Dutch, unsalted, 144/-146/- (134/136/-). Siberian, 95/96/- (92/94/-). Ukranian, 96/- (94/-). The b ard has also received the following advice from its agents in Canada:—Butter: Montreal, 22 cents. Stocks, 225,000 boxes; last year, 187,475 boxes. CHEESE. New Zealand, white, 6G/-67/-; ex. 68/- (62/-64/-); coloured, 62/-63/-; ex. 64/- r "'/-02/-) 60/-67/- equals approximately 61d per lb. f.o.b. Canadian, white and coloured, 66/70/- (68/-70/-). No quotations c.i.f. English finest fanners, 92/-100/-(92/-100/-).
