RADIO STATIONS
MUSIC ON THS AIR PROGRAMMES FOR TO-NIGHT The speaker on lYA’s international programme this evening will be Mr P. L. Soljak, M.A., of Auckland University. He is taking for his subject “English as a World Language.” The 2YA programme will be given by the singing circle of the Pioneer Club in conjunction with the Salon orchestra. There will be numerous choral numbers. The soloists for the evening will be Mr F. E. Gooder (baritone) Mr Edgar Swaiu (tenor), Miss Ella Fair (soprano), Mrs Downer (mezzosoprano), and Mrs A. S. Mitchell (mezzo-contralto). The instrumental programme will be provided by the Salon Orchestra. A public concert by the coloratura soprano, Margherita Zelanda, assisted by 3YA studio orchestra, under Mr Harold Beck, will bo broadcast by 3YA. A session of old time dances by Peter Bryson’s Band will follow. 4YA’s programme will be provided by the St Kilda Band and assisting artists, who will be: Miss Clarice Weir (soprano) Miss Lucy C. James (contralto), Mr F. E. Woods (bass), Mr Angus Gorrio (humourist), and Mrs C. Drake (pianiste). The whole programme will be of a popular nature.
