POWER BOARD PROBLEM

CHARGES FOR BULK SUPPLY. COUNTY REPRESENTATION. "It is really extraordinary that the Power Board should be actually making a loss while the two boroughs are making big profits,'” said Mr. F. B. Logan, chairman, at to-day’s meeting of the Hawke’s Bay County Council, when the Hawke’s Bay Power Board advised that the question of bulk supply to the Napier and Hastings boroughs had been referred to a committee of the Board.

“The Hastings Borough Council says that it could generate its own power more cheaply than it gets it from the board,” said Cr. N. P. Eriksen. The Chairman: They are doing a lot of squealing, but are not generating their power. Cr. S. Palmer: I see that up North one Power Board lias got to levy a rate over a county to make up its losses. The Chairman: That is just what we are afraid of. We have got additional representatives now,' but there is a chance that the agreement will be made before they are able to take their seats. On the motion of Cr. T. Mason Chambers the council decided to ask that the question of agreements with the boroughs be deferred until the council’s full representation was aide to sit on the board.
