The formation of a Mid-North Island Centre was mooted at the conference of delegates representing the New Zealand Council, the Wellington Centre, and the Wairarapa, Manawatu, and Hawke’s Bay Sub-Centres at Palmerston North The question was discussed at length in committee, it being later stated that the matter would be referred back to the subcentres concerned for their consideration. A further conference will probably be held in this connection to finalise matters. “In spite of the industrial and economic depression and increased taxation we urge all our members to look forward to the future with optimism and confidently to anticipate an early improvement in all matters affecting the welfare of our country.’’ states the annual report of the Auckland Provincial Employers’ Association A further appeal is made to employers to pass on the benefits gained by the ten per cent, ent in wages so that a yerv substantial fall in the cost of living may result and the position of the wage-earner ba appreciably affected.
