Professor Copland returns to Byd. ney by the Maunganui from Welling* ton to-day.— Press Association. A bulletin issued yesterday morning stated that the Duke of Gloucester had had a more comfortable night and that his condition was satisfactory. A further bulletin issued last night stated that he had a good day and is making satisfactory progress. —8.0.W. Bishop Molyneux of Melanesia returned to Auckland by R.M.S. Niagara, after an extensive tour of his island district. He will remain in Auckland a day or two before going to Wellington to take part in the consecration of the Rev. J. H. Dickenson, assistant Bishop-elect of Melanesia, which will be performed by Archbishop Averill. Mr H. C. Hanes, who has been accountant to the Napier brnnch of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., for the past four years, has received notice of his appointment to the audit staff of the company. Mr Hanes will be stationed at Auckland and leaves for that city at an early date. Mr George Maitland Proctor, a highly esteemed resident of Napier for many years, died at Wanganui on Sunday. For about 30 years the deceased was on the staff of Messrs Ellison and Duncan, Ltd. He suffered a stroke about 18 years ago and since then has been in delicate health. The late Mr Proctor and his wife celebrated their golden wedding some months ago. He was of a bright and cheerful nature and was loved .by all who knew him. He leaves a widow and grown-up family as follows, to mourn their loss:—Mr George Proctor, of Napier; Mr Jim Proctor, of Tauranga; and Mr Jack Proctor, of Christchurch, and Mrs Pouik. of Christchurch; Mias D. Proctor, of Wanganui; Mrs F. Derbyshire, of Wanganui; Mrs J. Harrop, Wellington, and 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
