The Whirlwind, second and largest of four prospective defenders of the America Cup against Shamrock V., Sir Thomas Lipton’s challenger, was launched nt Boston last month. The Whirlwind was given the name of that famous ship, built at Medford. Mass'., during the middle of the last century, which established a record of 86 days for the passage between New York and Melbourne. The boat’s dimensions arc. roughly: 158 tons, 127 feet over all, 86 feet water line. 21 feet beam, 15'feet 6 inches draft.'
