ATTACK ON OFFICER
UNRULY SEAMAN FINED. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, Jan. 6. Harbouring resentment towards the chief officer of the steamer Herminius over a matter of discipline some months ago, Frederick Gardiner, 47, a member of the crew, went to the officer’s cabin on Saturday while under the influence of liquor, used obscene language and struck the chief officer, with the result that he appeared in Court to-day. A fine of £3 was imposed, with costs; alternative, three davs.
