MEAT BOARD CONTROVERSY. Hawera, Dec. 10. In a letter to the “Star” to-day Mr C. D. Dickie, chairman of the Pa tea Freezing Co., replies to Mr J. Trotter, a member of the Meat Board. Mr Dickie contends that the board is a close corporation of mutton export ers. Beef and pork exporters pay their levy, but get no vote. He asks. “If the Meat Board brought about : reduction in New Zealand freigbrates, what caused the Australian am’ South African rates to drop Iqwerf” Mr Dickie refers to the rise in in surance rates on meat, while the Dairy Board secured a reduction i’ ,butter and cheese insurance rates. Hcontends that the Meat Board over laps the activities of other boards. Ono board should he able to conduct advertising and freight and insurance negotiations for all primary produce, otherwise the hriidon will become too great for the producer.
