FRUIT EXPORT
LOSSES TO NELSON CROWERS. Nelson, Dec. 9. A meeting of the executive of all fruitgrowers’ organisations in the province discussed how best to elicit information concerning the causes of heavy losses to exporters of this province last season by reason of the long delay in shipment and the consequent damage to fruit, prority of shipment, extraordinary differences in prices obtained, rebates on fruit sold in cool storage with consequent losses in the United Kingdom, and damage to New Zealand’s reputation in overseas markets generally, etc. Mr. A Forsyth (president) and Mr ,1 Dicker (federation director) gave some figures indicating the extent to which some growers had failed in their estimates of exportable crons and the efforts on the part of the management to secure additional shipping space After a discussion it was resolved to set up a committee of investigation The meeting also carried hy a large maioritv a motion in favour nf an investigation hv growers and disapproval of a petition now in circulation requesting Government interior once.
